Have you sorted your Gigabit Voucher yet?

This was in relation to the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme, an offering often deemed “too good to be true” by those who are hearing about it for the first time. Not only is it true but we’ve now got another update that’s quite urgent for those of you out there looking to utilise the scheme.

The gigabit broadband voucher is part of a government programme first launched in March 2018 by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport but it is currently going through some recently announced changes.

Whereas our previous blog about this has resulted in a lot of inquiries and questions there are still those who haven’t finalised their voucher application and seeing as the government has now said there are more voucher applications than the budget allows for, the remaining budget is on a “first come, first serve” basis.

In addition to this they’ve announced a change moving forward to the gigabit broadband voucher scheme, a change that was put in place on the 31st of January, where the scheme will no longer cover areas with services offering 100Mbps or faster broadband.

This means large parts of London will no longer be applicable but this should also mean a boost to rural areas, something the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport was already working on with their Rural Gigabit Connectivity programme.

So if you’ve already applied to the Gigabit Broadband Voucher scheme but not finalised it, i.e. you have not received your money yet, don’t hesitate for too long or you might miss the boat on this incredible offer.
