LUMINET CSR POLICY

Introduction

We are Luminet who are committed to providing high speed connectivity services in the UK and abroad, enabling our customers across the private, public and third sector to operate successfully. The prosperity of our business and the communities within which we operate require a commitment to sustainability. We have therefore developed a policy that encompasses the whole of our business and outlines how we deliver our Corporate and Social Responsibility. We commit to the policy which is as set out below.

Staff/ people

We are committed to the well-being and development of our people and to training our workforce, where employees are given regular feedback so that each employee has a clear understanding of what is required of them and how they contribute to the business. We operate a meritocracy, where employees are incentivised and rewarded based on their performance, effort, contribution, and attitude.
We expect employees to act and behave respectfully towards each other and exercise a high standard of business practice and ethics.
We support diversity, fairness and transparency and aim to involve and consult regularly with employees as to their feedback on how we are doing on progressing our CSR agenda.

Customers

We aim to build long term relationships with customers and other stakeholders by understanding their objectives as well as ensuring that we are successful in meeting their needs. We continuously collect customer feedback which we translate into improvements in the business. We aim to give fair value, consistently high-quality service and maintain open and honest communication.

Suppliers

We aim to create and maintain strong relationships with our suppliers and contractors. We aim to choose suppliers that align to our sustainability and employment practices, quality, and environmental controls. This applies to all suppliers and potential suppliers. Luminet also operates a Prompt Payment Policy.

Health & Safety

We are fully committed to meeting our responsibilities under the Health & Safety at Work etc, Act 1974, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 (as amended), and associated protective legislation, both as an employer and as a company.

Environment

Luminet feels strongly about caring for the environment.
We have implemented an initial environmental audit across all our business. We are aware of our environmental impacts and have taken and continue to take steps to mitigate this impact and hit our environmental objectives, implementing procedures and policies so that employees and contractors understand their environmental responsibilities and continue to seek to improve our environmental performance.
We have assessed our carbon footprint and we are fully committed to reducing emissions wherever possible. We know this commitment is important to our customers. Here are some of the initiatives that are helping us improve our sustainability:

  • We will seek to optimise the recycling of waste by providing appropriate facilities.
  • We will seek to minimise our energy, water and paper usage, through design, infrastructure and behaviour.
  • We are committed to gradually replacing our fleet with electrical vehicles to reduce carbon emissions and we continue to monitor developments regarding eco-friendly fuels. Our delivery routes and schedules are carefully planned to maximise fuel efficiency, and to reduce driver hours as much as possible.
  • The lighting in our warehouse is LED
  • We are off setting our carbon emissions to be carbon neutral through a tree planting scheme

The Community

We aim to enhance our relationships with the community by being sensitive to the needs of local people and groups in the areas where our employees work from. Having moved to a home-based work model, we encourage our employees to reach out and support their local communities by providing each employee with a set of charity days per year to participate in a CSR project in their local community. In addition, Luminet actively supports and donates to our chosen non -profit organisation within the community where our workshop is located once a year (the Islington Foodbank | Helping Local People in Crisis), as well as support a national charity chosen by the employees. The national charity is currently Cancer Research UK.
